Our 2022 Mission Stats
January 24, 2023On social media over the 12 days of Christmas, we shared some of the amazing achievements of our crew, charity and supporters from the last twelve months.
From the awards picked up by our crew, to the amazing amounts of money some of you raised, 2022 has been an amazing year.
Day 1 - January

In 2022, The Tufthorn Inn have donated £7,027 from their various fundraising efforts in the Forest of Dean.
The “Tufthorn Trotters” even walked a marathon around the Forest this year to raise funds for GWAAC.

Day 2 - February

In February, Steph Pearce organised a GWAAC Charity Ball at Tortworth Court in Wotton-under-Edge that raised over £7,000 for us.
Day 3 - March

In March, Fleur Mosley became a fully qualified Specialist Paramedic in Critical Care.
SPCC, Dan Davis also passed his Diploma in Immediate Medical Care.

Day 4 - April

In April, we were at the MudMaster, organised by the Lions Club of Weston, at
Puxton Park. It was a brilliant day!

Day 5 - May

In May, Volkswagen enthusiasts helped raise an amazing £4,361 for GWAAC during the Cruise to the Prom annual event on Weston-super-Mare Beach Lawns.
Day 6 - June

in June, we were delighted to be one of the main charity partners for the Gloucester 10K!
Organised by Gloucester Rotary Club and Davies & Partners it was a great day as we helped support runners, raising over £5,000!

Day 7 - July
In July, we opened our first Gloucestershire based shop. It is our third GWAAC shop.
Our Cheltenham shop will help increase our income as a charity and also boost awareness of our work in our local community. we spent the day training people in how to use a defibrillator and give bystander CPR.

Day 8 - August

On a hot weekend in August, GWAAC joined revellers and balloon enthusiasts at Bristol Balloon Fiesta.
Offering CPR sessions, children’s story time, demonstrations and even getting a visit from our helicopter.

Day 9 - September

We were delighted to continue our relationship with Frampton Country Fair in September. This celebration of our rural communities is always a favourite event in the GWAAC calendar and has raised over £7,500 for our lifesaving work to date.
Day 10 - October

In October, we celebrated a record year for our Great Western Heartstarters initiative.
Our fantastic Heartstarters volunteers had taught 4,470 secondary school children CPR and defibrillator use in the calendar year – more than ever before!

Day 10 - October

GWAAC had 26 runners take part in the Bath Half Marathon in October.
With a new charity village and route through the city it was great to see so many running in GWAAC colours. They raised over £10,000 in an incredible effort! We can’t wait to be back in 2023.

Day 11 - November

For the second year running, Team Velocity flew 24/7 around the world virtually for GWAAC in November.
They raised £8,000! In between livestreaming their efforts, the team took time out to host our crew too.

Day 12 - December

In December, we held our annual celebration of life afternoon. It was a chance to remember our loved ones and come together as a community. The afternoon was hosted by Mrs Peaches Golding, OBE. Eloise Skidmore and Dr Matt Thomas spoke passionately.
This is just a few examples of the work we've been able to do together over the last 12 months. For the countless other people who have helped in any way, big or small, we thank you, as would all our patients and their families.
