Our public access defibs: saving lives across Bristol

Across Bristol, 52 public access defibs have been installed thanks to funding from Bristol City Council and the generosity of local organisations, businesses and community members who agreed to host them. Each one is actively monitored by dedicated guardians, helping to ensure they stay rescue ready and available when every second counts.

Every defibrillator in our community is a lifeline. Together, we’re giving more people the best chance of surviving a cardiac arrest.

“It’s incredible to see how many people are already helping keep our community safe. Hosting a defib is easier than you think and the impact is huge.”

Caroline Kivungi, Great Western Air Ambulance Charity Defibrillator Officer

Why you should consider funding or hosting a defibrillator:

  • It’s simple to get started: We provide all the guidance and support you need so there’s no specialist knowledge required.
  • It makes a difference to your community: A defib in a visible location gives everyone nearby a chance to act quickly in an emergency.
  • You’ll be part of a growing network: Join hundreds of existing sites and help expand our lifesaving programme to other communities and councils.
  • It’s low risk and high impact: Cabinets are monitored regularly and incidents of theft or damage are extremely rare.

Defibs in the community are visible, accessible and rescue ready
