All of us here at Great Western Air Ambulance Charity (GWAAC) are extremely thankful to the Gloucestershire Hauliers Ball, who over the years have raised over £16,000 for their local air ambulance. As a charity, without support from the local community, we would not able to provide critical care to those who urgently need it.
Not only have they played a big part in helping us fund life-saving missions, but they have kindly decided to support us for another year. The annual occasion, organised by a small committee, is taking place this year on the 9th November at the Jury’s Inn in Cheltenham. The event has grown since its first in 2015, organised by a small committee who’s aim is to bring the haulage industry together and raise money for local causes.
Vicky King GWAAC Community Fundraising Coordinator for Gloucestershire said: ‘’We are blown away by the support we have received from the Gloucestershire Hauliers Ball and we are extremely grateful that they have decided to support us for another year.
“I’m very honoured to have been invited to the Gloucestershire Hauliers Ball as a representative of our local air ambulance. I’m really looking forward to meeting all of the wonderful supporters and thanking them for their dedication and hard work over the years.’’
Since January 2019 we have been called to 304 seriously ill or injured people within Gloucestershire alone. In 2018 our Critical Care Team attended 1,887 jobs across the region: by helicopter and by one of our critical care cars, our busiest year to date.
As a charity, we receive no day-to-day funding from the Government or National Lottery and need to raise over £3 million each year to stay operational. For these reasons we are truly grateful to the Gloucestershire Hauliers Ball and all of our supporters for helping us continue to keep saving lives.
