Introduction to Community Blogs

Welcome to the first instalment of our brand new GWAAC community blog!

Great Western Air Ambulance Charity is a cause that is proudly at the heart of its local community. Our team of Community Coordinators, Joe, Vicky, and Ian (that's me!), are normally out and about on the roads throughout Bristol, Bath and North East Somerset, North Somerset, Gloucestershire, and South Gloucestershire meeting you: our fantastic communities who keep GWAAC's Critical Care Team flying.

With the ongoing fight to combat COVID-19, the way we are working is changing a little, and this blog is part of our move online. We're at our happiest when we can be with you, helping in the many incredible ways that you find to support your local air ambulance. That certainly hasn't changed, which is why we wanted to create this blog to help provide advice, share your stories, and give some ideas about how to keep raising vital funds for GWAAC.

Over the coming weeks we will be updating you with inspiring stories about some of the incredible people that make up GWAAC's community, talking about our brand new virtual event, "Flights for Flights", and keeping you informed about our work.

We know that many of you will have had to cancel your events, change plans, and will be disappointed about not being able to support us in the same way as usual. We, as you, are sad not to be able to be with you as we usually would. But: we are here for you. Please get in touch - through social media, by email, or on the phone - and we will be available to support you.

Great Western Air Ambulance Charity is yours. Our Critical Care Team can only be there for the most critically ill and injured patients in our shared community because of people like you. You keep us flying and together we save lives. This blog is also yours, so please do share your thoughts with us, let us know what you think and tell us what you would like to hear about.

Thank you for all of your support, particularly at this difficult time. We look forward to sharing our stories with you!

Ian, Joe, and Vicky.
