Our Impact in 2023
March 8, 2024Supporting the Gloucester 9 Project to help combat poverty
March 18, 2024This month we’ve joined charities across the UK, along with one of our free will-making partners, Octopus Legacy, to shine a spotlight on gifts in wills.
When we think about making a will, we think about leaving something behind for the people and places we care about. And for many, that extends to the charities that have touched their lives. Around one in six Great Western Air Ambulance Charity (GWAAC) missions are made possible because of gifts in wills. That’s more than 300 patients given their best chance on their worst day, thanks to the generosity of people remembering us in their will.
What could you leave behind with a gift in your will?
The comfort of knowing we’ll always be there
We all know that an accident or medical emergency can happen at any time. And when it happens to someone close to you, it’s comforting to know that GWAAC are on hand to bring the advanced skills and equipment that only an air ambulance crew can. We’re here today – perhaps you’ve even seen our helicopter or cars – and we want to be here tomorrow, and for all the years to come. But without the security of guaranteed funding we will always need the support and generosity of our community to make that happen. A gift in your will can help secure our future.
The hope of a fighting chance
Your gift could be the difference between life and death for the most critically ill and injured patients. That’s why we exist – to give people the best chance at reaching the right hospital when the odds are stacked against them. We believe everybody deserves that chance. If you believe it too, then a gift in your will can be a lifeline for someone who urgently needs it. It can be the blood transfusion for someone involved in a car accident, the emergency anaesthetic to stabilise someone with a serious head injury, or the ventilation for a newborn baby who has stopped breathing. Having everything we need to perform advanced pre-hospital medicine, for years to come, can give more patients their chance.
The power to keep pushing forward
The world of pre-hospital emergency medicine is evolving all the time. Advances in equipment and technology can make treatment quicker, more precise and safer. And learning to perform a larger array of procedures outside the hospital means we can deliver an ever-expanding level of critical care – saving precious moments for more patients. To keep pace with this evolution we need to be able to invest in the things we need, now and in the future, and a gift in your will can ensure we’re able to do just that. And it’s not just the equipment – our Critical Care Team will grow and change over the years too, and your gift can train future generations of GWAAC Paramedics and Doctors.
We understand that the priority for anyone making a will is to take care of loved ones. But if you’d also like to remember GWAAC in your will, even a small gift can make a big difference. It’s more than just money – it’s hope and comfort for future generations. It’s a lifesaving legacy that can keep your local air ambulance charity flying – today, tomorrow, and always.
