Golf Club combines efforts to make a big difference for GWAAC in 2024

We are delighted to announce that the 2024 Captains of Minchinhampton Golf Club (MGC) have chosen to support Great Western Air Ambulance Charity (GWAAC) with their Club fundraising activities this year.

Club Captain Ed Clark, Ladies’ Captain Liz Sandilands and Seniors’ Captain Barry New and Eve Clements the Old Course Ladies’ Captain all successfully kicked off their year with the Captain’s Drive-in on Saturday 6 January.

Sadly, the Club has had reason to call for the assistance of our critical care team on a couple of occasions, both with successful outcomes, so are very aware of the value of their local air ambulance charity. This is the first time that the Club has chosen to support a single charity over a year and is testament to their belief in the importance of supporting our cause.

There are a number of fundraising events planned throughout the year, particularly the Spring Lunch, Captains’ Days and the Club Charity Day on 19 May.

We look forward to working with the Club throughout 2024 and raising funds to help us save lives in the local community.

We are also excited that the partnership allows us to announce that our inaugural GWAAC Corporate Golf Day will be held on the prestigious Avening Course at the MGC. A classic parkland layout, designed by Fred Hawtree, the older of the two ‘New’ courses features several lakes, fairways lined with a rich variety of mature specimen trees, strategic bunkering, and challenging greens. Set atop the rolling Cotswold countryside, the course offers stunning panoramic vistas of the nearby village that lends the course its name, and regularly plays host to National, Regional and County competitions. The Avening Course in its original layout has been chosen to host the Open Championship Regional Qualifying between 2018 and 2024.
