Education For The Future

Educating the younger generation is important part of the work we do here at Great Western Air Ambulance Charity.

There are a number of ways we inspire and educate the young people across our region - Bristol, Bath & North East Somerset, Somerset, Gloucestershire and South Gloucestershire. From teaching them life-saving skills they may need in the future, to educating them about the work we do here at GWAAC, there are plenty of ways to get involved.

We offer free talks to schools across our region (normally involving a special appearance from Charlie our Critical Care Bear). The talks are fun and engaging, and teach children about what we do why it’s so important.

As well as being fun, fundraising teaches children valuable skills such as team building, giving them the opportunity to think as a group and work for the benefit of others.

If you would like to do some fundraising for us then please do get in touch with our Community Fundraising Team on, who will support you every step of the way.

Great Western Heartstarters

Great Western Heartstarters (GWHS) is a training initiative aimed at teaching school pupils in years 8 & 9 how to confidently administer CPR and use an Automated External Defibrillator (AED). The programme is delivered by a group of professional healthcare volunteers who give up their time to lead sessions.

If you work for, or know of, a local school who would like to find out more about this initiative contact our Coordinator Claire on:

We have teamed up with Girlguiding Bristol & South Gloucestershire County, and Girlguiding Somerset North County to provide the GWAAC Challenge Badge.
