A day spent at a conference can be a big commitment. There's travel to consider, time away from the clinical environment and a busy programme to fit into the day. So, what makes it worthwhile for you?
Perhaps it's learning something completely new. Maybe it's hearing an experienced clinician talk about a challenge you've been facing yourself. It could be discovering a different approach, seeing new technology in action or having a conversation that gives you an idea to take back to your own team.

One of the biggest benefits of coming together with clinicians from different services and backgrounds is the opportunity to hear how others approach the same challenges.
At Great Western Air Ambulance Charity’s (GWAAC) Clinical Symposium, you'll hear from speakers working across pre-hospital emergency medicine and air ambulance services, bringing different experiences, perspectives and areas of expertise to the forefront.
Some ideas may be immediately relevant to your own role. Others might challenge your thinking or spark a conversation with colleagues.
And you never quite know which one will stick.
Taking ideas back to work
The most useful ideas are often the ones that make you stop and think: could we do something differently?
That might mean trying a new approach, exploring a piece of equipment, changing a process, starting a conversation with your team or simply looking at a familiar problem from a different perspective.
You don't necessarily need to return to work with a fully formed solution, of course.. Sometimes the first step is having a new question to ask.
More than what's on the stage
A symposium isn't just about the presentations,
It's the conversations in between. The chance to meet our clinicians, and those from other services. The opportunity to ask a speaker a question after their session. Sharing experiences over a coffee. Discovering what another team is doing and wondering whether it could work in your own setting.
These informal moments can be just as valuable as the sessions themselves. They can lead to new ideas, new connections and sometimes collaborations that continue long after the event.
A day to learn, question and connect
This year’s Clinical Symposium is taking place at Ashton Gate Stadium in Bristol. Clinicians are coming together from across the South West and beyond, for a day focused on Innovation in pre-hospital care.
You can expect expert speakers, shared learning, opportunities to connect with peers and the chance to explore the latest developments with our industry partners.
But most importantly, come ready to listen, question and share.
And remember, you don't need to leave a symposium with all the answers. You might just need one good idea to take back with you.
