GWAAC is here for the people of Wiltshire

Famed for its prehistoric monuments - most notably of course Stonehenge - Wiltshire is also home to parts of the North Wessex Downs Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.

Our Critical Care Team were called 124 times to Wiltshire in 2024. That’s over two people each week who were given the best chance of a positive outcome, thanks to their local air ambulance.

It is also more likely that we are called to the area by helicopter, meaning the average mission cost in Witlshire is higher than in other areas we serve.

2024 Wiltshire missions in numbers:

53

Medical emergencies

The same as in 2023

71

Trauma incidents

Up from from 59 in 2023

We were called out to Wiltshire 124 times in 2024. That's up from 112 times in 2023.

Claire's story

“The visit to GWAAC kick-started the healing process. Talking to GWAAC and Dr Tim has helped us to come to terms with everything. And for Martin, who has struggled to talk about it more than me, now finds it easier to do. We’d like to get across this message to others in similar circumstances and particularly men — talk about it. It really does help! And talking together has helped us understand what the other experienced and helped fill some of the many gaps in my memory.”
