With your support
April 16, 2024This page explains why you may have received a letter from Swiftaid regarding your recent donation.
Swiftaid is a third-party service Great Western Air Ambulance Charity (GWAAC) has partnered with to help maximise the impact of your generosity. Swiftaid acts as an intermediary between GWAAC and HMRC, helping us reclaim Gift Aid on eligible donations.
Here's how it works: when you make a donation without attaching a Gift Aid declaration, Swiftaid steps in to check if you're a known Gift Aid donor. If so, they ensure that the Gift Aid on your donation is claimed, allowing us to receive additional funds at no extra cost to you.
It's important to note that not all donations qualify for Gift Aid, depending on various factors which may not always be clear to us. If you feel that your donation shouldn't be eligible for Gift Aid, we completely understand and respect your decision.
To ensure transparency, charities like ours must be registered with HMRC before using Swiftaid. The registration process involves providing specific details about our organisation, such as our official name, HMRC charity reference, and relevant charity commission information. This enables HMRC to recognise that Swiftaid will be processing Gift Aid claims on our behalf. Once registered, Swiftaid takes care of the entire Gift Aid process, from identifying eligible donations to submitting claims to HMRC. This means there's no additional administrative burden for us, and HMRC pays us directly for the reclaimed Gift Aid.
In essence, Swiftaid simplifies the Gift Aid process, allowing us to focus more on our mission of making a positive impact in our community.
None of this would be possible without people like you - we are hugely grateful for your continued support.
If you have any further questions about Swiftaid, your donations, or Gift Aid in general, please don't hesitate to get in touch.
Thank you once again for your generosity and kindness.
