Renowned Gloucestershire artist PJ Crook raises funds for GWAAC

Great Western Air Ambulance Charity is thrilled to have the support of renowned artist PJ Crook MBE who lives and works near Cheltenham but is represented by galleries across the world.

PJ is a patron and supporter of many local charities and we are delighted she has added GWAAC to the list of causes that she advocates for.

These three beautiful pieces were donated to raise funds for GWAAC and we could not be more grateful.

PJ said:

“I was so enthralled when I met GWAAC Supporter Engagement Coordinator Emma Fawcett at Cheltenham’s Fresh Art Fair where she told me about the Air Ambulance service, and the brilliant life saving rescues they make. I told her I would try to help her in some way when the right opportunity came along.

So when, as Patron of Cheltenham Open Studios, I joined them in their bi-annual event early in June this year, I decided to hold it in aid of the Great Western Air Ambulance Charity. The timing was perhaps not good as I also had an exhibition in London, so the whole of the earlier part of the year had to be devoted to that but once it was up and running I managed to paint three small works so that their sale would benefit the air ambulance.

I was thrilled when friends and collectors bought the three small paintings and a print plus books and cards on my work and a raffle which rounded the proceeds up to £3,106 for GWAAC. It was an honour to play a little part.”

GWAAC’s Emma Fawcett says, “It was very much our honour to be supported by the wonderful PJ Crook whose work is so celebrated. PJ does a huge amount for local charities and organisations and gives her time and her work selflessly to them. I was also overwhelmed by the attendance for her Open Studio and the willingness of collectors to lend their support.”
