Circuit Breaker Volunteers
Help us ensure our defibrillators are ready to save a life
Forming part of the chain of survival, CPR and defibrillation before an ambulance arrives can boost cardiac arrest survival rates from less than 10% to over 70%. As a Circuit Breaker Volunteer, you will help ensure GWAAC defibs are always ready to make a lifesaving difference.
A Circuit Breaker Volunteer is someone who is dispatched to check our defibs when needed. This helps us ensure we can mitigate against the risk that one of our defibs is unavailable when it’s needed most. As such, this is a hugely important role and makes you a part of the lifesaving team that will give someone the best chance on their worst day.

What you'll receive:
- Opportunities to visit us at our Almondsbury airbase for CPR training
- Remote training via phone or video call
- Soft cloth and gel to aid cleaning
- Great Western Air Ambulance Charity ID and Lanyard
My role is part of the GWAAC Hearts Team, whose mission is to save more lives with community defibrillators and training. I work with the team that makes sure the GWAAC defibrillators across the charity’s area are regularly checked to make sure they are emergency ready should they be needed.
