World Book Day: The Adventures of Kolo raises funds for GWAAC
March 6, 2025On Saturday 15 February, Steph Pearce hosted another extraordinary night of glitz and glamour at the De Vere Tortworth Court Hotel. Steph and family have been hosting the Supporters Ball since 2012 and this year we would especially like to thank Muller Milk & Ingredients Distribution (MMID) for sponsoring the evening and helping the annual event raise well over £7,000 for Great Western Air Ambulance Charity (GWAAC).
As guests arrived for a welcome drink, (and a Muller fruit corner) the team swung into action selling blue and lime green balloons, each of which contained a raffle ticket and the potential to win one of hundreds of prizes. Then, to kick off the evening, our wonderful Critical Care Doctor Matt Thomas spoke to the gathering about the work that GWAAC does, setting the scene for the fundraising. This year was also in memory of Paul Drew and a lively game of Heads and Tails raised funds for men’s mental health charity Manup?.
Following dinner and drinks, dancing began to the fantastic Function 246 band. Later the balloons were popped and the raffle prizes found their way to their new homes. Then the silent auction rounded off the fun with the winners claiming their spoils! The event has raised close to £7,500 for GWAAC which is a really phenomenal total.
Throughout, photography was provided by the wonderful www.eventphotographybristol.co.uk. Balloons were kept flying by the kind donation of helium from Bristol Gas Supplies for which we are very grateful.
Our heartfelt thanks go to Steph, her family and our volunteers on the night, Steve and Gail Tedford, for helping the evening run smoothly along with GWAAC staff, Sully and Charlie. To all the local community and businesses who provided marvellous raffle and auction prizes, and also to Muller MMID for not just sponsoring the Ball but being enthusiastic guests also!
We are looking forward to next year already!
