Come and say hello to the flying doctors and paramedics of Great Western Air Ambulance Charity
We have a team of paramedics and doctors that wear orange a bit like Zog, but when they go to help patients they fly in our green and blue helicopter. Have you ever seen it flying near you?
The day Zog came to visit
To celebrate 10 years of Zog and the Flying Doctors we invited Zog and his illustrator friend Axel Scheffler to the GWAAC airbase in South Gloucestershire to visit some real flying doctors.
Our doctors and paramedics read from the Julia Donaldson book 'Zog and the Flying Doctors', we told Axel about the work we do, and Axel drew a picture of Zog. Our pilot captain Dan even taught Zog some flying lessons!

We are Great Western Air Ambulance Charity (GWAAC), We are actual flying doctors and paramedics who fly (and drive) to the most poorly children and adults who need our special skills and equipment to look after them before they can get to hospital. We hope that you, your family and friends never need us, but we're here in case you ever do.

Introducing Alex, a real flying doctor!
Alex is a real life Princess Pearl. But she doesn't fly a dragon, she flies in a blue and green helicopter. But just like Princess Pearl, she looks after poorly people. Alex is a trainee doctor at Great Western Air Ambulance Charity.
Could you be a Flying Doctor?
Our real life flying doctors and paramedics give some advice to children who might want to become a flying doctor (or paramedic).
Landing School with Captain Dan
Zog is very good at flying Princess Pearl and Sir Gadabout to their patients. He's not quite as good at landing though. We brought Zog to meet Captain Dan the air ambulance pilot at GWAAC to teach Zog some landing skills.
