Break the Cycle

What is Break the Cycle?

Break The Cycle is a one day charity bike ride organised by Bristol Sport Foundation through the stunning Mendips. With three distance options it is a fantastic cycling challenge to take on for GWAAC!

The event features three  routes through the Mendips, designed by Olympian Oli Beckingsale. Whether you’re relatively new to cycling or a seasoned pedaller, set yourself a challenge and sign up for one of these routes: Bronze 42 miles, Silver 66 miles, or Gold 100 miles

All routes start and finish at Ashton Gate Stadium and each one offers spectacular scenery and a fantastic day in the saddle.

Why ride for GWAAC:
Within five minutes of receiving a call, the Great Western Air Ambulance Charity team can be on their way to an incident. When responding to a medical emergency, every second counts.

By taking on this challenge and raising money you will help us continue to be there for more people on their worst day. GWAAC is completely funded by donations from the public. We couldn’t keep flying without people like you taking on challenges like this, thank you!

All GWAAC riders will receive:

  • Welcome pack with lots of fundraising ideas and support
  • An invitation to our next Base Open Day to see first hand what your donations fund
  • Your own GWAAC sports vest for everyone who raises £20+
Support from our awesome charity team in the run up to and after the ride

On top of the above, we are launching a new GWAAC cycle jersey on Friday 14 July, designed by local street artist, Andy Council. By signing up to fundraise for GWAAC at Break the Cycle, you will be eligible for a £10 discount on the jersey upon it’s release, with riders that raise over £150 receiving the jersey for FREE! The jersey will be sold for an RRP of £60, meaning GWAAC Break the Cycle riders can purchase it for £50. For more information about the cycle jersey or Break the Cycle, email charlie.rowen@gwaac.com.
