Great Wall of China Trek – September 2018

Great Western Air Ambulance Charity is looking for hardy souls who can walk in the footsteps of the Ming Dynasty and help keep them flying.

The Great Wall of China is regarded as one of the Seven Medieval Wonders of the World, spanning almost 4000 miles from the Gobi Desert to the Yellow Sea. You’ll be hiking on steep, remote terrain in high temperatures for 8 days and staying in a mixture of simple guesthouses and a “home stay” in a rural farming village. The trek is very varied, you will pass through woodland terraced farmland and remote mountain villages such as Huangyaguan, a small town situated in a beautiful valley in the heart of the Yanshan Mountains. We follow old sections of the Great Wall, as well as restored sections such as the famous ‘Heaven’s Ladder’, a steep climb of over 200 steps scaling a sheer cliff face!

As well as seeing one of the most spectacular sights in the world, you’ll have the opportunity to visit Beijing and tour Tiananmen Square, the Forbidden City and the other sights of this extraordinary city.

We’re heading to China in September 2018 and we’d love to have you join our team. We’ll cover the cost of your flights, accommodation and food. In return, we’ll ask you to meet an ambitious fundraising target, helping and supporting you every step of the way. You’ll be trekking with a group of committed volunteers, who you will get to know in the weeks and months leading up to this incredible challenge as you fundraise and train together. You will also be supported by experienced Discover Adventure leaders who will be there to ensure that your trip runs safely and smoothly.

Conquer the Great Wall of China, make friends for life and help us to save lives. Interested? Give us a call on 0117 969 9344 or send us an email!
